Philosophy
Slowing down and speeding up film creates different effects and alters how we understand time. How can one play with this on a very basic level?

Concept and reference points
Using old footage of seagulls flying in Bristol and newer photos of me in front of my computer, I was able to push how I could view time. The first was ‘forty days and forty nights’ (in forty seconds). Prior to the end of this module I sat every day for forty days and forty nights and at each sitting took one screen shot.
This was speeded up in Imovie to four seconds and output via my Ipod.

The second part was to slow the birds in flight and simply draw them alongside the footage in one line, hence mapping a flight. Leonardo was referenced for the drawing of the birds and the Bible for ‘forty days’.

Testing
There was virtually no testing of these pieces, they were just executed and put together as quickly as possible.

Direction
As these works were completed quickly it might be worth revisiting them again over a longer period of time. Also the juxtaposition of drawings alongside video is an area that I will develop further.
